A pedestrian hit by a double-decker bus remains seriously hurt in hospital six days on from the crash.
The man, 30, involved in the accident with the No.81 Arriva bus, sustained serious pelvis injuries and a head injury.
Today officers said their investigation was ongoing following the crash on Childwall Park Avenue, at about 1pm on Saturday.
There were only three passengers on the bus at the time.
One told the ECHO: "I was in shock when this accident occurred, but my thoughts are with the person that was injured and the bus driver."
"...it was a horrible thing to witness."
Another man who saw the aftermath of the crash said: One man, who saw the aftermath of the collision, said: "It looked serious, and the man didn't look in a good way.
"There was hardly anyone on the bus, because obviously, not many people are using them at the minute because of the lockdown.
"Everybody was told to get off as soon as the accident happened.
"They looked upset."
Pictures from the scene showed significant damage to the front windscreen of the bus.
The bus driver was said to be very shaken up by the crash.
No other vehicles were involved.
The no.81 service travels between Bootle and Speke, travelling through Walton, Wavertree, Childwall, Woolton, Gatecare and Hunts Cross.
Last Saturday afternoon, a large section of Childwall Park Avenue was sealed off, close to Devon Way, near to the Childwall Triangle.
Police arrived at the scene and launched an investigation into the accident.
An air ambulance was requested, but the man was taken to hospital by land ambulance.
Management from Arriva attended the scene, as is normal in any serious collision involving one of their buses.
An Arriva spokeswoman said at the time: "We are working with Merseyside Police as they conduct their investigation."
