A man was hit by a vehicle and seriously injured Tuesday near west suburban St. Charles.

The 40-year-old man was walking on the road about 9 p.m. when he was hit by a westbound Ford Crown Victoria on Courier Avenue near Sycamore Avenue in unincorporated St. Charles Township, according to a statement from the Kane County sheriff’s office.

He was airlifted to a Chicago-area hospital with “potentially life threatening injuries,” the sheriff’s office said.

The 28-year-old St. Charles woman driving the Ford was not injured, authorities said. No tickets have been issued.

The incident remains under investigation by the Kane County Accident Reconstruction Team.
