Man hit by car as he crossed the road left with serious injuries

A man was left with serious injuries after he was hit by a car while crossing a road in Birkenhead

The man, in his 50s, was knocked down by a red Nissan Juke while crossing Pool Lane, at the junction with Arrowe Park Road at 5.50pm.

The crash, which occurred, on Tuesday December 10, left the man with serious facial injuries as well as injuries to his wrist and shoulder.

Emergency services were called to the scene of the incident and the man was taken to hospital for treatment.

The ECHO understands that his injuries were not life threatening and that his condition is now stable.

The driver stopped at the scene and is assisting police with their enquiries.

A police spokesperson said: "We are appealing for witnesses following a collision in Wirral on Tuesday, 10 December.

"A man in his 50s was struck by a red Nissan Juke crossing Pool Lane at the junction with Arrowe Park Road at around 5.50pm.

"The pedestrian suffered serious injuries to his face, wrist and shoulder. Emergency Services attended and took the man to hospital for treatment.

Constable Craig Williams, from the Matrix Roads Policing Unit, Merseyside Police, said: "We are keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the collision. If you were in the area at the time and have information, CCTV or dash cam footage, please get in touch."
