Man Hires Company To Transport His New Corvette. Then The Dealership Sends Him A Shocking Video Of What The Driver Did To It

A man was excited to receive his newly purchased Chevrolet Corvette. That excitement turned to outrage after he received a video from the dealership showing how the transport driver purportedly treated it.

TikTok creator StingerStung (@stingerzstung) recently posted a video of his white Corvette leaving the lot that he says the dealership sent him. You can hear the sound of an engine in the background; judging by the sound, it's revving at very high RPMs.

“Dealership sent me this video of my transport company driver doing this to my newly purchased Corvette,” he writes in the on-screen text. “On a cold start. It’s cammed.”

His video has over 2.3 million views as of this writing.

In the caption of the video, StingerStung warns against using the carrier H&T Transportation or the company that he says dispatched it, Nexus Auto Transport. In the comments section, people reacted to the video and what it means for StingerStung’s new Corvette.

“They recorded because if the car was screwed up, the dealership was going to get the blame,” wrote one viewer.

“The fact that he had the time to pull out his phone, start recording, and catch it for a while is crazy, too,” a second wrote.

“I’m not a car enthusiast," said a third. “I barely know what ‘cammed’ is. Can someone explain?”

Several people in the replies attempted to explain. “TLDR,” wrote one person. “An upgraded [camshaft] lets your engine rev higher than stock, so this car will be revving more than the stock version, putting more strain on the engine. If that makes any sense.”

Another person said, “When you put an upgrade cam in an engine, you typically do a break-in period and don’t just rev bomb the car. New internal parts equals break-in period to let the new parts wear into the motor properly.”

What Does A Bad Camshaft Do To A Car?

If an upgraded camshaft is supposed to make your vehicle’s engine run more efficiently, a bad one does the opposite: a faulty camshaft can cause acceleration issues, odd engine noises, and even misfires.

A cold start refers to starting the engine when it is “cold” versus the temperature outside. “Will this hurt your car?” asked Anderson Auto Group in a blog post on the subject. “No, not as long as you keep your oil changed and refrain from revving up your engine to warm it up," it reported. So basically the opposite of what the transport driver allegedly did.

According to Preowned Auto Logistics, car owners can file an auto insurance claim if their vehicle is damaged by an auto transport company. Companies are required to maintain a minimum level of liability insurance, and hopefully any damages not covered by that policy will be by the driver's personal insurance.

Motor1 contacted StingerStung via TikTok direct message for comment. We also called H&T Transportation and Nexus Auto Transport at the number available on the US Department of Transportation website. We'll update this if they respond.
