Man hides in car as it's lifted into air at garage after 'forgetting to get out'

Waiting for your car to be repaired can often mean sitting in a mechanic’s waiting room for what feels like forever.

But one TikTok user was forced to wait inside his own car for an hour and a half after he “forgot” to get out when he went to have his tyres changed.

Mark Perpose was still sitting inside his vehicle when it was lifted into the air, and he posted a hilarious video as he hid from the mechanics until the job was finished.

He wrote alongside a video of him in his car: “Guys. I forgot to get out of my car when I brought it to the auto shop to get my tyres changed. What do I do?!”

And in a second video explaining the situation in more detail, Mark admitted he “spaced out” when the mechanic was explaining he needed to step out of the car before the work could begin.

He said: “I was scheduled for a tyre change that day because I already knew the mechanic, and he told me to just pull up to the shop and once I got there the mechanic was going to get into my car and drive it into the workstation for me.

“When I got to the workshop, I hopped into the passenger seat while the mechanic went into the driver’s seat and drove my car into the bank.

“At that point the mechanic told me I wasn’t allowed to be in the car while they were installing my new tyres, but because I have such a short attention span I kind of just spaced out and forgot what the mechanic told me.”

Mark was learning over to grab a bag in the car when it started lifting into the air, and he said he doesn’t think the mechanic knew he was in there because he was out of view at the time.

He added: “After five minutes of spacing out I remember the mechanic told me to get out of the car, so I started gathering my belongings. And as I was reaching over to the driver’s side door, the car just suddenly started rising. I don’t think the mechanic knew I was still in there because I was bending over, but I kind of just froze.

“I didn’t know what to do! What am I supposed to do, jump out and break my knees? I just started sinking lower into my seat because I was already so embarrassed. I was there for an hour and a half.

“When my car started coming down again I started stressing because I didn’t know what to do. I was going to pretend I was sleeping but the mechanic already knew I was wide awake so I just gave him a little wave. As soon as that was over I drove off.

“The situation wasn’t that serious. I’m safe, the mechanic is safe, and that’s all that matters.”

Both of Mark’s videos have received thousands of likes and comments, with people sharing in his embarrassment.

One commenter wrote: “That’s so funny! That’s so awkward.”

While another added: “This is so embarrassing I’m crying.”

And a third posted: “I wouldn’t ever show my face there again.”
