Man helps create model churches and cottages in bid to raise charity cash

A businessman has helped create quaint model churches and cottages in a bid to raise money for charity.

Eddie McAlinden, from Banbridge, Co Down, hopes they will strike a chord with people during the Coronavirus pandemic.

He said: “For 20 years I ran a pigeon sale for charity but because of the current situation this has been cancelled so i thought creating model churches would be an ideal garden feature as a symbol of worship for people during the lockdown.

“They are made to the scale of Bangor Blue slates and are individually crafted by local artists including Des Winters and Mary Doran.

“They will go on auction to raise money for the southern Area Hospice, newry, and i want to thank everyone who helped produce them.”

Anyone wishing to place a bid for one of the model churches should visit www.scarvaauctions.com.
