PUNE: A man (32) was arrested on Sunday on the charge of sexually assaulting his neighbour’s four-year-old daughter on March 11 and 12.
The incident came to light when the survivor’s mother found her daughter in his house on March 12. She also found that the man had sexually assaulted her daughter on the previous day. After discussions with her family members, the woman on Sunday filed a complaint with the police.
The man has been arrested under Section 376 (rape) of IPC as and the relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offence (POCSO) Act. An officer from the Chakan police said the woman and the suspect were neighbours. On March 12, he had invited the girl to his house under the pretext of giving her chocolate and sexually assaulted her. “He had assaulted her a day before, too,” the officer said.
