KOCHI: A 41-year-old man was arrested by Ernakulam Rural police on Thursday for sexually assaulting a seven-year-old girl.
The arrested person has been identified as Vinod Kumar of Udumbanchola, Idukki. The accused was a painting worker who was staying for rent at Thandekkad near Vengola.
The accused was arrested by Aluva police based on the complaint by the child’s father. The accused had gone into hiding after the assault and he was tracked down by the police who arrested him from Perumbavoor.
SHO L Anilkumar, SI M S Sherry, CPOs Shija George, Mahin Sha Abubacker, Muhammed Ameer, H Harris and C A Niyas were part of the investigation team.
One arrested under Kaapa
Kochi: Rural police arrested a 25-year-old man for entering the district violating an order under the Kerala Anti-Social Activities Prevention Act (Kaapa) which had restricted his entry into the district for one year.
The arrested person has been identified as Sreejith Kochuveetil alias Bilal. Police said that the accused had as many as 15 cases against him in multiple police stations.
The accused violated the order and entered the district to threaten a woman in Aluva. He had allegedly told the woman that he would kill her son. Police recorded his arrest in this case as well and remanded him in judicial custody.
He has cases against him for murder, attempted murder, attempted robbery, narcotic cases, etc. He was arrested from Thrissur.
