A man said he heard five loud bangs before someone was seen sprinting through a nearby park.
Merseyside Police are now appealing for information after gunshots were fired at a grey transit van on Falmouth Road in Croxteth with no reports of injuries on Monday, May 23. The offender was seen running away from the scene through the park on Falmouth Road onto Dodman Road and then Mullion Road.
People in the area told the ECHO about how they heard five loud bangs before seeing the suspected gunman sprint through the park. One startled man said: “We were stood waiting for the bus about 5.30pm yesterday when we just heard ‘bang, bang, bang, bang, bang’ and someone sprinted through the park.

"I think he was waiting for a van to go past. My cousin lives on the road and said he saw a van shot at before the man ran through the park."
Another resident who lives near to the scene of the shooting said her son was playing out when he ran home as police swarmed the area. She said: "He was playing out when he sprinted inside last night and dragged me out in my pyjamas to see the police. I thought he was joking but obviously not."
Fingertip searches took place up and down Falmouth Road as well as on Newdown Road and the local park. CCTV enquiries were carried out and officers are out in the community reassuring people living in the area.
Detective Inspector John Mullen, said: “I would urge anyone who was in the area at around 6.30pm on Monday, 23 May, who witnessed the incident, or who have any information to come forward. I would also like to appeal to anyone who has CCTV, dashcam or footage on any other devices to take the time to check them to see if they have captured any footage that could help us find those responsible.
“Firing a gun in a residential street is extremely reckless and dangerous and shows a total disregard for the safety of local residents."
