Man has 'life-changing' injuries after crash on A4 in Brislington

A man is believed to have suffered life-changing injuries today in a Brislington crash.

The A4 was partially blocked in both directions due to an accident at about 1pm (October 18), near Brislington Cricket Club on Ironmould Lane.

A South Western Ambulance Service spokesman said the call handler prioritised the incident as 'Category One', indicating life-threatening injuries.

He added: "We were called to this incident at 1.05pm.

“We sent various resources and conveyed a male patient to Southmead Hospital.”

An Avon and Somerset police spokesman said: "We were called by the ambulance at 1.28pm.

"A cyclist has come off their bike. No other vehicles believed to be involved.

"The cyclist, a man in his 30s, was taken to Southmead Hospital with what are potentially life-changing injuries."

The accident was cleared at about 2.45pm and traffic is back to normal.
