A gang repeatedly stamped on the head of a man in a brutal street attack.
Police are investigating after "a gang of youths" set upon their victim on Monday night.
That probe sparked raids that led to four arrests yesterday morning.
Officers were called to Liverpool Road in Widnes following reports a man was being assaulted outside the Best One shop on the street.
The 27-year-old reportedly had his head stamped on several times.
On Tuesday, Cheshire Police executed warrants at homes in Widnes and Southport .
Four males, aged 16, 17, 18 and 23, were arrested on suspicion of offences including attempted section 18 assault, section 18 wounding and violent disorder.
