Man has bail revoked after 'ice pipe' allegedly found following Christmas Day fatal crash

The fatal crash on Christmas Day killed a mother and daughter.

A man accused of driving dangerously and causing a double fatal crash on Christmas Day has his bail revoked after an "ice pipe" was allegedly found in his car, a court has heard.

Mark Veneris, 46, was charged with dangerous driving causing death, following a head-on collision at Manly West on Brisbane's bayside.

Makayla Tritton, 18, died at the scene and her mother Karin died later in hospital.

The father and his eldest daughter were also injured in the crash.

Mr Veneris was originally given bail during a bedside hearing in hospital after the crash.

The Wynnum Magistrate Court heard there are further charges pending from the investigation and an "ice pipe" was allegedly found in his vehicle.

Magistrate Christine Roney said she was concerned Mr Veneris might be a risk of flight and pressed that the charges were "very serious".

"There is a very high likelihood that your client will serve a period of actual custody," she said.

'Remorseful in the extreme': accused driver

Mr Veneris's barrister, Ken Fleming QC told the court his client was "remorseful in the extreme" and on his way to visit his daughter before the crash occurred.

"His attitude is such that he is going to see this through and accept any consequence," he said

"We accept that if in fact he's convicted, there will be jail time."

Magistrate Christine Roney said Mr Veneris showed an "extraordinary level of recklessness and disregard" and revoked his bail.

Outside court, Mr Fleming said his client would not be commenting on the matter.

"The police are still doing their investigations," he said.

"You have to leave them time to do the investigation.

"At the appropriate time when we know what the facts are that the charges are based upon he will be responding appropriately."

The case returns to court in March.
