Woman warned boyfriend's demands are 'huge red flags' during her pregnancy

A mum-to-be was left reeling after her boyfriend told her she should make more effort with her appearance.

The anonymous woman said she's currently in the early stages of pregnancy and is "totally not enjoying it."

She said: "I feel sick all the time, throw up and my back kills. I know it will get better but right now I hate how I’m feeling lol."

So instead of wearing her usual tight-fitting clothes and taking time with her make-up and hair, she said she'd rather wear joggers and 'comfy' clothes, which her boyfriend has taken issue with.

She added: "My boyfriend today has said that he wishes I would take better care of myself and ‘not go out looking like a mess and a farmer's daughter’ whatever that means?

"He says I’m not looking attractive when I don’t bother and he wants me to start putting more of an effort into myself."

She snapped back at him asking why should she have to when she's in so much pain.

But the woman's boyfriend said that it was "just a suggestion" and that she should "calm down."

She took to Reddit to ask users whether she was being out of order for snapping at him but everyone agreed it was her partner who was in the wrong.

One person said: "From an outsider's point of view, and purely my humble opinion, it seems like he values you more on your looks than the fact you are growing a human inside of you and that does take a toll on your body."

Another user replied saying: "Yeah, absolutely this. Is your partner going out like he's going to his GQ fashion shoot instead of the grocery store? Or does he just put on some jeans and a t-shirt? Unless he's looking like a model, tell him to shut the f*** up while you gestate a whole-a** human inside you."

"The 1950s are calling - they want your boyfriend back," a third wrote.

Whilst another wrote: "From a guy's perspective; it’s weird that he doesn’t find his wife, the mother of his child, attractive without make-up and a dress... more attractive with that, sure, but not attractive at all without it? That raises an eyebrow."

And: "I see a lot of red flags..." said one concerned reader.

Do you think she was unreasonable? Or do you think that her boyfriend was being insensitive? Let us know in the comments below.
