Man grabs girl, 14, by the hair and throws her in bush 'amid row over park den'

This is the shocking moment a middle-aged man grabbed a teenage girl by the hair and threw her to the floor in a park.

The child, 14, was apparently making a den with her friends to shelter from the rain in the village of Anlaby near Hull on Friday night.

An unnamed man, who was with a woman, then challenged the girls, it is claimed - prompting things to become heated, reports HullLive.

Violence flared, with video footage showing one of the girls being pulled by the hair and thrown into nearby shrubbery.

Her grandfather Glyn Johnson, 50, claimed: "It started raining so Lexi and her mates started making a den.

"Everybody likes making dens as kids and they weren't hurting anyone.

"This woman started having a go at them, and then this bloke came across and had a go and tried moving them on.

"Some people just assume kids that age are trouble and up to no good. But they were just being kids."

He said an argument broke out between the couple and the girls, which quickly turned nasty.

"It's one thing asking them to move on, and they might have been a bit cheeky back," he continued.

"But at that stage, you can choose to step back and ring the police or council, and let it be dealt with in the proper way, if it needs to be.

"You don't take the law into your own hands."

In the clip, the white-haired man, dressed in shorts and fleece, can be seen grabbing the girl by her hair and flinging her into a nearby bush, where he pins her down for several seconds while she flails and kicks to try and get him off.

Her friend is seen slapping him on the back of the head to try and get him off her, while another tells him she's filming it all and will be contacting police.

Glyn said the girls informed police that night but the family were waiting to hear from them about whether it will be investigated.

The teenager was said to be "shaken" (Hull Live)

He said: "He went nose-to-nose with her friend first, shouting and rowing, and then he grabbed Lexi and dragged her to the ground which was totally wrong, you don't put your hands on someone else.

"Lexi was shaken and had loads of scratches and marks on her.

"I was so angry when I saw the video, that's my grand-daughter and anybody would feel the same as me if it was their daughter, niece, or family member."

"I don't care what she said or how it started, there is no excuse for that.

"He needs a visit from the police and he should be either arrested or get a strong telling off at least, he obviously has anger management issues."

The incident was reported to Humberside Police.
