Man goes viral for explaining we're boiling pasta wrong - but not for the reason you think

Social media is a great place to get some meal inspiration as well as helpful cooking tips for free.

And while some hacks will go viral due to their simplicity and the tasty finished product, others might become popular for different reasons. One such cooking hack has left viewers in equal parts baffled and angry, reports the Manchester Evening News.

The TikTok user who made the clip is known for funny and unique cooking tricks, and has managed to enrage thousands. The clip, which has amassed 1.6 million views, saw the TikToker show their preferred way of making pasta.

In the clip they explain: "We've been boiling pasta wrong. Place your strainer into the boiling pasta, drop in your pasta, bring it to a rolling boil and cook to your liking."

More than 2,000 TikTok users were quick to comment on the video, with some warning "the police will be arriving shortly".

On top of using the strainer, the TikToker made the "red flag" mistake of snapping the pasta before putting it into the boiling water. One user even said: "I will never listen to anyone that breaks their pasta."

However, this wasn't the only thing that riled up social media users as the TikToker went on to put BBQ sauce all over their pasta when finished. Needless to say, the viewers had something to say about it.

"BBQed broken pasta… who called the cops already," one user wrote. Another said “Ummm did he really just put BBQ sauce on pasta?”

“I am not Italian, but yet I am crying,” a third commented while a fourth stated: "I can’t tell if this is a joke or not..who breaks pasta…and who puts bbq sauce on it."

"Breaking the pasta is the worst thing you can do. *Brings out BBQ sauce* All of a sudden the break is forgotten," said one last viewer.

While many tried to decide whether or not the creator of the video was deadly serious with his pasta hack or just having a laugh, a quick scroll through his account shows hundreds of other videos where they show off other weird and wonderful cooking hacks.
