A man who had just been shot gave an interview to a local television network live on air last night, stunning viewers in Quincy, Illinois.
In the segment, Devon Hawkins, who is wearing a hoody and puffing on a cigarette, recounted the incident to the KHQA presenter Reyna Harvey.
He said: “You know, I’m in a room chilling, kicking like I usually do, drinking.
“Then somebody shot right through my back window and hit me in the chest. And I’m like s***t, get my son out the room. I ain’t even tripping though, it’s a petty war wound.”
Harvey then asks him to lift his shirt, revealing a bloody bandage taped to his chest.
He responds: “I think they want me dead. Or some other stuff. I don’t know.”
Viewers expressed surprise, shock and amusement on Twitter.
The shooting occurred on Chestnut Street in Quincy just after 12:30am local time. Hawkins was taken to the hospital and released, and that is when he walked into the reporter’s 5am live shot for an interview.
The incident is being investigated by local police, who told KHQA that currently they do not have a suspect.
