Man gives almost 100 abandoned chihuahuas a forever home after rescuing them

A big guy with a big love for little dogs has rescued almost 100 neglected, disabled and abused chihuahuas.

Bobby Humphreys, 49, from Boonsboro, Maryland, US, owns the Big Guy, Little World Sanctuary, and provides unwanted chihuahuas with a safe and permanent place to call home.

The sanctuary is Bobby's passionate project and is currently home to 95 tiny dogs - though soon Bobby hopes to relocate to a bigger premises in Florida.

Kind-hearted Bobby has given dozens of lovable chihuahuas a second chance at life, and they all dote on him at every hour of the day in return.

His huge dog-friendly renovated home has a three-acre garden for them to play in, but you'll often find them all snuggled up on the sofa together.

Speaking about his sanctuary, Bobby said: "We deal specifically in Chihuahua mixes. There are a couple of random breeds here however, and we have ages ranging from five months old up to 18 years old."

"This was never something I intended to do, it just evolved into it. We go above and beyond to make sure that the ones that nobody else cared for still get a full life.

"There is a pack mentality here, they are very social but there are small roving groups inside the overall pack.

"There are certainly personalities that clash from time to time and have their differences, but for the most part it is a very good community environment."

Since he started sharing videos of his sanctuary online, Bobby has racked up more than 380,000 followers on Facebook, who all applaud his generous work.

"The usual reaction from our subscribers is wonderment, love and happiness, and even a little bit of envy and jealousy as they wish they could be doing what we are doing," Bobby said.

"Even though I never set out to do this, there’s a wonderful side effect that we are helping people as well as helping the dogs."
