Man gets stranded on beach, calls police for help... then regrets it

A driver whose car got stuck in the sand called the police - only to end up most likely regretting his decision.

The man had driven his car onto a beach in Tynemouth on Thursday morning to go fishing.

However, the vehicle soon became stuck in the sand and to make matters worse, the tide started to coming in.

Requesting the help of the emergency services, they managed to bring the vehicle to safety, reports Chronicle Live.

But, unfortunately for the caller he was found to be driving without a licence and insurance and has been sent to court, police said.

A spokesperson for Northumbria Police said: "At about 7am this morning we received a call from a man who had been fishing on Tynemouth Longsands.

"He reported that he had got his car stuck in the sand after driving it on to the beach. Emergency services attended and the car was brought to safety.

"However, it was found the vehicle had no insurance and so it has since been uplifted by officers.

"The 32-year-old man who made the call has also been reported to court for the offences of driving with no insurance and driving without a licence."
