THANE: Thane sessions court on Saturday convicted a 39-year-old man from Bhiwandi for raping his teenage daughter and sentenced him to life imprisonment. Additional Sessions Judge and Special Judge (Pocso) VV Virkar in the order also imposed Rs 10,000 fine.
It was between 2017 and 2018 that the accused repeatedly raped her daughter and even threatened and beat her every time she tried to raise an alarm, the court was told.
Even her mother ignored her when she complained about the same. Once she also tried to flee home, but was brought back few days later. Subsequently, a case was registered.
Prosecutor Rekha Hiwrale informed that eight witnesses were examined to nail the accused, and he was convicted under the Pocso act.
