Man gets his own back on 'jerk' manager after spotting red flags during job interview

A man was offended by a potential employer's behaviour during an interview - so he decided to get revenge.

Sharing his story anonymously, the man said that he was excited to interview for the position as it was in his chosen field and paid pretty well.

But during the interview, the employer was deliberately late to test the man's patience and had lied about the wage to guarantee a lot of interviewees.

The man was shocked by these 'red flag' behaviours but accepted the job anyway - just so he could not turn up on his first day to teach the employer a lesson.

Taking to Reddit, the man said the had driven for over an hour to get to the interview, but thought it was worth it as the job paid £18 an hour.

But when he arrived the employer was nowhere to be seen, and the receptionist kept saying he was just around the corner.

He said: "One hour later I'm p****d and I asked the secretary, 'hey is the interview going to happen'?

"She said that the manager just text her and he is ten minutes away. I should have just left but my greed kept me there.

"One hour after that the manager strolled in and told me I'm late to interviews on purpose so I can find patient people.

"I tried to stay professional and I do pretty well in the interview. He wanted to hire me on the spot but I always ask about benefits and pay before I say yes.

"He said with the biggest smile it pays £66 a day. I was so confused.

"I let him know that career services said £18 an hour. He said plainly that he always tells them that so he can have the most techs come in and interview.

"He starts complaining how no one wants to work anymore and it's so hard to find people. I was so p****d that I told him I would take the job.

"He told me to start Monday. I'm not going to go. I just hope he gets pissed off and tries to call me asking why I didn't show. I'm planning on saying 'I just don't want to work no more'.

After sharing his story online, other Reddit users blasted the employer for his deceitful tactics.

One said: "I have a better idea. Keep your phone nearby and text him 'almost there' every hour. Make him wait like he made you wait.

"Then when he realises you’re not coming, say 'I like making my employer wait to see if they’re patient'."

Then a second wrote: "£66 a day? So your workday is 3.6 hours? Odd."

And another commented: "£8/hr lmao. Less than half of what's advertised. There's no way this has ever worked for him"

"Glad you saw what a jerk he is," added a fourth user.
