Man gets bail after 'accidental shooting death' while cleaning rifle

Adnan Al Youssef is accused of accidentally shooting dead a man on Wednesday night.

A man accused of accidentally shooting another man dead on a property in north-west NSW has been granted bail after appearing in court.

Police allege late on Wednesday night, Adnan Al Youssef took a rifle out of his car to clean it when a round discharged.

A 23-year-old man was hit and died at the Bundella property, about 100 kilometres west of Quirindi.

Officers seized the firearm and Mr Youssef, 41, was taken to Quirindi Police Station where detectives from the Oxley Police District laid a manslaughter charge.

Investigators said at the time the two were part of a group of three men and five children from south-west Sydney.

Mr Youssef was in custody in Tamworth but was granted conditional bail at an out-of-sessions hearing before Magistrate Robert Abood via video link in Parramatta Local Court on Friday.

He will reappear in Tamworth Local Court on January 30.

Police are yet to release the name of the victim.
