COLVA: Principal sessions judge Irshad Agha sentenced a man to three years simple imprisonment for voluntarily hurting his wife in 2019.
The accused, Vilken Tirkey, had assaulted his wife Poonam Dungdung in April 2019 by striking her head and face with a laterite stone in an attempt to murder her. The assault took place at Colmorod in Margao. The Margao town police had consequently charged the accused with attempt to murder.
Public prosecutor J D’Costa submitted that there was direct evidence to link the accused with the assault on his wife. After perusing the evidence, the judge convicted Tirkey and ordered him to undergo three years of imprisonment.
