Nov. 17--A Chicago man was sentenced to 10 years in prison Monday after pleading guilty to a charge that he tried to force two underage girls into prostitution at an Aurora hotel, DuPage County prosecutors said.
Demarcus Feltus, 30, pleaded guilty to one count of involuntary servitude of a minor, a Class X felony, in exchange for prosecutors dropping other counts against him.
He and another man are alleged to have arranged sexual encounters for men with two 15-year-olds at an Aurora hotel in June 2014.
Feltus and his alleged accomplice reportedly took out an online ad offering "2 sexy females." The ad came to the attention of Aurora police who arranged a meeting with the girls on June 19, 2014, at the hotel.
At the meeting, an undercover police officer determined that both girls were 15 years old. Other officers confronted Feltus and Laburron Jackson, 30, of Chicago, who were allegedly waiting outside the hotel in a vehicle. Feltus tried to flee on foot, but was taken into custody after a brief chase, prosecutors said.
Both he and Jackson, who is awaiting trial, have remained in the DuPage Jail since their arrest in lieu of $500,000 bond.
"This afternoon Mr. Feltus admitted that he forced two young girls, not yet old enough to drive, into prostitution," State's Atty. Robert Berlin said.
Berlin said that sex trafficking is rare in DuPage County, but is a multi-billion dollar business nationally.
