Man furiously marks out personal space with garish spray paint after parking row

An opportunist motorist has angered neighbours with a garish bit of spray paint work - to mark out a personalised parking space.

The luminous green graffiti, which appeared at some point on Sunday, haphazardly marks out a parking space for a Skoda , with an extra adjoining space for a bicycle.

Large green and red letters on the fence beside the makeshift parking bay read "NO PARKING HERE", with two exclamations marks on either side of the text.

The graffiti, in the Linden area of Gloucester, has been condemned by neighbours on the street, who see it as criminal damage.

One resident on Roseberry Avenue, where the graffiti has appeared, said: "To be honest, it looks rubbish.

""Everybody on the street has noticed it. They've all been out talking about it.

"We did have a little laugh about it at first, but we have to live with it. It's frustrating."

The resident added: "It doesn't take a genius to work out who's responsible."

Another said: "It's just bringing the whole street down.

"I came in from work late Sunday night and I saw a Skoda parked in the spot.

"I first thought there were LED lights under the car and thought 'that looks pretty cool'.

"But then I realised it was spray paint, and I said: 'Oh my god, what have they done?'

"It could be a case of the 'Broken Window' effect, once people see this and think it's okay they could graffiti other areas."

Meanwhile, a third added: "It's certainly bright enough. Is that even legal?"

The resident mentioned that they had been in touch with police to report the incident on Sunday, but were told it was 'a civil matter'.
