Man 'fully exposed himself' to woman on walking path in broad daylight in Newport

Police have appealed for information after a man exposed himself to a woman while she was out walking in broad daylight.

Julieanne Archer said she was out walking her dog near Fourteen Locks in Rogerstone, Newport on Thursday, March 4 at lunchtime when a man "fully exposed himself" to her.

"A man probably in his mid-20s passed me in the wooded area of Fourteen Locks, made eye contact, then exposed himself," she said.

Ms Archer said she then turned back to pull her dog away, at which point the man "fully exposed himself and continued playing with himself."

"He made noises and gestures, at which point I ran dragging my dog alongside me. No one was around which made me think he was there waiting for someone to pass," she added.

"He was wearing navy tracksuit bottoms and dark top."

Ms Archer added that she was shocked after the incident but thankful she was able to run away.

"I do worry about vulnerable people who are unable to run away [in those situations]," she said.

Officers from Gwent Police confirmed they are making enquiries following the incident.

A Gwent Police spokesperson said: "We’re appealing for information after receiving report of indecent exposure in Rogerstone, Newport at around 1.05pm on Thursday 4 March.

"A woman was walking near to the Fourteen Locks canal centre in Cwm Lane when a man exposed his genitals to her.

"Enquiries are ongoing and anyone with information that could assist our investigation is asked to call Gwent Police on 101, quoting log reference 2100076277 or 167 04/03/21.

"You can also contact us via social media on Facebook and Twitter or you can report any information anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
