Man banned from his home town and not allowed to touch cars

A 22-year-old repeat offender has been banned from entering St Helens and from touching cars following a crime spree.

John Corrigan, 22, from the Parr area of St Helens was handed a three year criminal behaviour order after several convictions for theft of motor vehicles over the last year.

Attending Liverpool Magistrates Court on Wednesday, September 1, officers from the Community Policing Team at St Helens submitted the order.

The 22-year-old will now not be able to enter an area of St Helens surrounding his home for three years.

He's not allowed to enter Newton Road, Ashtons Green Drive, Fleet Lane, Graville Street, Cornwall Street, Watery Lane, Burton Wood Moss to Parr Flats and crossing Broad Lane to Newton Road.

The order will prevent Corrigan from entering an area of St Helens (Merseyside Police)

As part of the order, he's also not allowed to engage in conduct likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress to any person, or incite others to engage in such conduct or enter the grounds of any private property except with the permission of the owner, occupant or tenant.

Finally, Corrigan will not be able to touch or enter any motor vehicle that does not belong to him, without the permission of the owner/user.

The only exception to this rule is if he's a fare paying passenger on public transport or a registered taxi.

Speaking after the order was issued, Sergeant Andy Lester of the Community Policing Team said: "Criminal Behaviour Orders continue to be an extremely effective tool and our successful application for the CBO against Corrigan shows our commitment to dealing robustly with repeat offenders who have a negative impact on the community.

"Should Corrigan breach the conditions of this order, he will be returned to court and may be jailed.”

Anyone with information on vehicle crime can to speak to local officers or you can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
