Man from Newark pleads guilty to common assault

A 45-year-old man from Newark has pleaded guilty to common assault on a female.

Wayne Radford, of Cranmer Road, entered his plea at Nottingham Crown Court on Thursday, January 2.

He pleaded not guilty to making a threat to kill the female on July 27, 2019.

Nottingham Crown Court heard the prosecution does not seek a trial on the threat to kill charge, and the allegation will lie on file.

The case was then adjourned until January 24 for sentencing on the common assault charge. Radford will remain on bail to attend court on that date.

Judge Gregory Dickinson QC, the Recorder of Nottingham, told him: "The prosecution has decided not to proceed to trial on an allegation of making a threat to kill".
