Man from County Durham dies after car crashes into a wall on the A68

A 28-year-old man from Crook has died after his car crashed on the A68.

The driver died after his Skoda Fabia left the road while he was driving north near Houghton Bank, Heighington, at about 1am on Sunday when he lost control and collided with a wall.

The car ended up on its roof and stopped about 50 metres north west of Walworth Road.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers from Durham Constabulary would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the collision, or anyone who has any dash cam footage of the Skoda or a black BMW, which it was believed to be in convoy with.

Anyone with information is asked to call 101 quoting incident reference number 28 of August 16.
