Man found with this knife at tram stop

A man was arrested after being found with this knife at a tram stop in Manchester city centre.

The suspect was arrested at Cornbrook Metrolink stop last night (Wednesday), according to police.

He was spotted by transport unit police officers on patrol.

Officers arrested him on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm and for possession of a bladed article.

No further details on the suspected incident have been released yet.

GMP city centre posted a picture of the knife on their official Twitter account at around 10.35pm last night.

A man has been arrested for the possession of a knife at Cornbrook tram stop (GMP)

The knife had an orange handle with a serrated edge on the metal blade.

Alongside the picture, an officer wrote: "#Transportunit officers have arrested a male at Cornbrook on suspicion of causing GBH and possession of a bladed article.

"Working alongside @OfficialTfGM we conduct uniform and plain clothes operations across the regions transport routes to keep the public safe. #Travelsafe."
