Man found with handgun in his house during police raid in Oldham is jailed

A man found with a gun at his house during a police raid has been jailed.

Officers, part of an operation tackling serious and organised crime, raided the home of Scott Robinson, 43, on Higher Lime Road in the Limeside area of Oldham last October.

Inside they found a handgun.

The weapon was seized and Robinson arrested.

He was later charged and pleaded guilty to possession of a firearm at an earlier hearing.

He was today (Thursday), jailed for five years at Manchester's Minshull Street Crown Court.

Speaking after the case, Detective Chief Inspector Chris Mossop, from Greater Manchester Police's Serious Crime Division, said: "This warrant was executed as part of an ongoing operation to tackle serious and organised crime.

"I hope this reassures members of the public that Greater Manchester Police is committed to making our communities safer.

"Though officers proactively gather intelligence, these investigations rely somewhat on those who live and work in our communities. I would therefore like to use this opportunity to encourage anyone with information about serious or organised crime to contact us directly or Crimestoppers, anonymously.
