Man found with 200 wraps of Class A drugs after being stopped by police

A man has been arrested after being found in Moss Side with 200 wraps of class A drugs.

Officers uncovered the drugs in a stop-and-search over the weekend. A picture of the wraps was posted on social media today (Monday).

An officer wrote: "#XTF officers patrolling #MossSide #Manchester arrested 1 adult male in possession of over 200 wraps of class A drugs after #StopSearch."

The man was detained as patrols were stepped up over the weekend after a drive-by shooting. Stop-and-search powers were increased after a 16-year-old was blasted by a bullet outside on Quinney Crescent.

Police said they were using the increased powers to 'prevent violence involving weapons'. Officers are still hunting for the attacker in the shooting with no arrests made since the incident.

Detectives said the shot was fired from a car in the horrific attack. Pictures showed a pellet-ridden car at the scene, which the Manchester Evening News understands was caused by a shotgun.
