Man found unconscious and seriously injured on Wallsend Metro platform following suspected assault

Police have issued an appeal for witnesses to come forward following a suspected assault in North Tyneside earlier this month.

Officers were called to Wallsend Metro Station shortly before 10:45pm on Saturday, March 4, after the North East Ambulance Service received a report of a man lying unconscious on the platform. The 51-year-old man was taken to hospital with a suspected head wound.

He remains in a stable condition with potentially life-changing injuries, police said. An investigation is now ongoing into the incident, including CCTV enquiries.
