Man found seriously injured on Oldham street was stabbed, police say

A man found seriously injured on an Oldham street was stabbed, police have said.

The victim, who is in his 40s, was discovered on Moorhey Street in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

At first, detectives were unsure what exactly had happened to him. They now believe he was attacked in the street by two men.

He is understood to have been knifed twice.

The victim was taken to hospital, where he remains in a serious, but stable condition.

Forensics at the scene (MEN)

A 500m section of Moorhey Street was taped off by police on Wednesday after an investigation was launched.

The cordon was close to Roundthorn Road, just off Glodwick Road, and was in an ‘industrial estate-type area’, surrounded by a number of garages and businesses.

Forensic officers also attended, and could be seen taking photographs and placing yellow plastic evidence markers as they scoured for clues.

The road was reopened later that morning.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 0161 856 8926 or 101, quoting incident number 69 of June 5. Reports can also be made via Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
