Man found on park path sparks major emergency response

A man was taken to hospital after a major emergency services response at a city park.

Police, paramedics and two fire engines attended Otterspool Park near Jericho Lane just after 8am.

After a search, firefighters are said to have located a man, believed to be a male cyclist in his 60s, on a path in woods.

North West Ambulance Service said they had been alerted at 7.34am to say a rider had fallen off a bicycle.

A man in his 60s had sustained an injury to his hip and was taken to hospital.

A spokesperson for Merseyside Fire said: "Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service was called to Jericho Lane on Thursday 14th October to assist North West Ambulance Service (NWAS).

"Crews were alerted at 8.10am and on scene at 8.17am. Two fire engines attended.

"On arrival firefighters located one person on a path in the woods. They were assessed by paramedics and taken to hospital for further treatment.

"No further fire service action was required. Crews left the scene at 9.10am."
