Man found lying injured in the road on his way home from work

A 24-year-old man was left in a heap on the road after being hit by a car on his way home from work.

Jordan Dowling, who works as a delivery driver, is understood to have been struck by a car on Walton Road on Friday evening.

His mum Jamie Dowling told the ECHO : "It happened at about 10.20pm, he was flung off his bike and into the road.

"We were waiting for him to come home and he was late, and he is never late. The police turned up and I went to bits, I thought the worst.

"He said he tried to phone me but he couldn't move and he couldn't reach his phone."

Jamie says Jordan has already had extensive treatment, and will likely remain in hospital for some time.

She continued: "He has five broken bones in his leg, his right ankle is fractured, and his heel came out through his skin.

"He was in surgery for ten hours, and he needs more operations, as well as more scans, x-rays, and tests. He could also need a skin graft on his ankle.

"It's horrible because we can't visit him, we can't bring him anything he needs, we can only text him or video call."

Jamie says the incident was reported to Merseyside Police, and photos seen by the ECHO appear to show an emergency response on Walton Road on Friday.
