Man found injured in Springburn close after early morning assault

A man was rushed to hospital having been found injured in a close in Springburn after he was assaulted.

Officers were called to the scene of the attack on Hawthorn Street shortly after 5.30am this morning (Monday).

The 26-year-old was then rushed to Glasgow Royal Infirmary where medical staff describe his condition as stable.

An investigation has now been launched by Police Scotland.

A Police Scotland spokesperson told Glasgow Live: "We were called around 5.30am this morning to a report that a 26-year-old man having been found injured in a close in Hawthorn Street, near to Memel Street, Springburn, Glasgow.

"It has now been established that he was assaulted and enquiries are ongoing.

"He was taken by ambulance to the Glasgow Royal Infirmary and medical staff describe his condition as stable.

"Enquiries are continuing."
