Man found injured after being attacked in the street as police cordon off area

A man was found injured after being attacked in the street as police cordoned off the area.

Emergency services were called to Beaconsfield Road, near Andy's Aquatics, in New Ferry at around 7.30pm on Wednesday night.

When paramedics and police arrived they found a man injured in the street and he was rushed to hospital.

The victim, a 21-year-old, is believed to have been assaulted in the area but the circumstances of the incident are not yet known.

In a statement, a spokesperson for Merseyside Police told the ECHO: "Officers were called at 7.30pm to reports a male had been assaulted.

"The 21-year-old victim is currently being treated in hospital and his injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

"We are carrying out enquiries into the incident and a cordon has been put in place to help with the investigation.
