Man found hiding on roof after throwing fire extinguisher at police car in chase

A man was found hiding on a roof after throwing a fire extinguisher at a police car during a chase.

Shortly before 11pm on Thursday night, officers sighted a suspected stolen Ford Mondeo, on Anfield Road.

After being spotted by officers the car failed to stop and made off at speed, closely followed by police .

During the chase a fire extinguisher was thrown at a police vehicle and then the suspected stolen car was abandoned.

However, with the help of police dog Xander a 19-year-old man from Everton , was found hiding on a roof in Haggerston Road, in Walton Village.

The man was arrested on suspicion of fail to stop; attempted Section 18 wounding; dangerous driving; theft of a motor vehicle and burglary.

He was taken to a police station for questioning. 

The Ford Mondeo involved in the incident and a suspected stolen Honda motorcycle were seized for forensic enquiries to be carried out.
