Police seized 85 wraps of cocaine and heroin after a man was found hiding in a bush.

Officers seized the white bag containing the suspected Class A drugs after the man made a bungled attempt to flee from police in Liverpool city centre .

The man was seen throwing what police termed a "large package" as he rode a bike in Pall Mall .

He was chased on foot by police during the incident around 1.20am on Saturday, August 24.

But his bid to give police the slip was foiled when he was found hiding in nearby bushes.

A white bag containing over 60 wraps of what is believed to be crack cocaine and 25 wraps of suspected heroin were recovered.

A police spokesman added: "A 56 year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs and has been released under investigation pending further enquiries."

In a separate incident later on the same day cocaine was seized after police spotted a group of men "huddles at the side of the road" as officers drove down the East Lancs in Croxteth .
