Almost four years after fatally bashing his partner in a remote bush hut, the man behind the slaying could face years in jail over his crime.
Rohen James Hanson was on a camping trip with 34-year-old Dee Annear in the NSW mid-north coast when he attacked her in September 2021.
The 42-year-old admitted killing his partner in the Bulga Forest camping spot known as the "witch's hut", but told two NSW Supreme Court juries he was acting in self-defence.
He claimed he had tackled her into a wall after she swung a beer bottle at him.
A jury rejected that argument on Wednesday, finding him guilty of murder.
A separate jury in an earlier trial was discharged after failing to reach a verdict in April 2024.
Prosecutors told the court Hanson had repeatedly lied to police about what happened in the hut, including saying she had been injured in a car crash.
The pair had a fraught relationship but had reconciled for the camping trip.
Hanson will face a sentence hearing on September 5.
