Man found guilty of killing goose

A man has been found guilty of attacking and killing a goose by a river. Mark Flintham, 54, was caught on camera carrying the dead bird at a beauty spot.

He claimed he was putting the bird which he said had been attacked by a dog out of its misery. Flintham denied causing unnecessary suffering to the wild bird.

But at a trial at Oxford Magistrates’ Court on Monday he was convicted him of the offence. Previously the court has heard how he was seen kicking the creature in Abbey Meadows in Abingdon in Oxfordshire on August 10 last year.

He is due to return to court on Thursday, May 18.
