Man found guilty of abusive behaviour towards his partner in Kilmarnock

A man has been found guilty of abusive behaviour towards his partner in Kilmarnock.

Majid Islam appeared before Kilmarnock Sheriff Court this week where he denied four charges of aggressive behaviour and assault.

The 40-year-old maintained his pleas of not guilty to all four charges throughout the trail but was found guilty of three by Sheriff Alastair Watson.

A further charge of assaulting his partner by seizing her by the arm and striking her was found not proven.

The offences, which all occurred on July 26 this year at an address in Kilmarnock, took place following an argument between Islam and his partner.

Witnesses gave evidence that the argument had been “really bad” and could be heard from upstairs in the house.

Islam, of Mosside Avenue in Carluke, was found guilty of behaving in a threatening and abuse manner towards his partner by shouting and swearing and threatening her with violence.

He was also found guilty of two charges of assault against teenage girls by seizing one of them on the arm and punching the other on the body.

Islam will be sentenced next month.
