Man found fighting for life on hard shoulder of M56 motorway

A man is in a life-threatening condition after being found on the M56 this morning.

Police confirmed they were called to the motorway to concerns for the welfare of a man.

Officers attended the scene, at around 5.30am, on Friday, November 19, and found a man on the hard shoulder.

The man was found near Wytenshawe on the stretch of motorway between junction four and five, the MEN reports.

Police described his condition as 'life-threatening' and said he has been taken to hospital.

Two lanes were shut as emergency services dealt with the incident but one has since reopened.

In a statement, a spokesperson for police said: "Officers were called to the M56 near Wythenshawe just before 5.30am today (19 November) to concerns for the welfare of a man found on the hard shoulder between junctions 4 and 5.

"He was treated at the scene for life-threatening injuries and taken to hospital where his condition is unknown."
