Man found fatally shot in Austin

A man was found fatally shot Monday night in Austin on the West Side, according to Chicago police.

Officers responded to a ShotSpotter alert in the first block of North Long Avenue around 11:40 p.m. and found the 49-year-old man on the sidewalk with a gunshot wound to his chest, police said.

He was pronounced dead at Stroger Hospital, police said. His name has not been released.

No one was in custody.
