Man found dead outside Cardiff Central railway station

The body of a man has been found in Cardiff city centre.

South Wales Police said the man was found on Penarth Road near Cardiff Central train station after emergency services were called shortly after 5pm on Thursday evening.

Pictures from the scene showed a police cordon near the back entrance to the station covering a section of pavement. The roads around the cordon are currently open and pedestrians are being let through to access the station.

Police were seen by witnesses manning the cordon and a number of plain clothes officers were gathered in the middle of the police tape.

A South Wales Police spokesperson said enquiries are at an early stage and the death is currently being treated as unexplained. Officers said there is not thought to be any wider risk to the public.
