Man found dead next to church in Harehills

A man was found dead next to a church in Harehills.

West Yorkshire Police officers were called to a patch of land between St Aidan's Church and Banstead Park in Roundhay Road at around 2pm on Tuesday, February 11.

They cordoned off an area around the church while an investigation was conducted and have concluded that there are no suspicious circumstances.

The identity of the man has not been revealed.

A police spokesman said: "At 2.03pm yesterday police received a report of the body of a man being found between the grounds of St Aidan’s Church and Banstead Park, in Roundhay Road, Harehills.

"A scene was put in place while enquiries were carried out into the circumstances.

"The death is not being treated as suspicious and the coroner’s office has been informed."
