Man found dead near Glasgow Central Station as another hospitalised with serious injuries

A man has been found dead near Glasgow Central Station, with another man hospitalised with serious injuries.

Police and emergency services were called to the scene at 10:45pm last night in waste ground next to Jamaica Street amid reports of two injured men, as reports The Scottish Sun.

One of the men, a 40-year-old male, was confirmed as deceased by the police and emergency services on arrival.

His death is being treated as unexplained as police continues their enquiries.

Meanwhile the second man is currently being treated in hospital for serious injuries.

A spokesperson for British Transport Police told the paper: "Detectives are currently investigating the unexplained death of a male and serious injury of another male at Glasgow Central Station, last night.

"At about 10.45pm officers received reports of two injured men on waste ground off Jamaica Street, Glasgow.

"Officers from BTP and emergency services attended and a 40 year old male was sadly declared dead at the scene. Their next of kin have been informed.

"The second male is currently being treated in hospital for serious injuries.

"If you were at Glasgow Central station last night, and have any information, please contact British Transport Police on 0800 40 50 40 or text 61016, quoting incident number 730 of 01/02/2020, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111".
