Man found dead in Navan Road home named locally as Michael 'Mick' Mulvey

A man who was seriously assaulted two weeks ago and found dead in his home yesterday has been named locally.

The man was named as Michael “Mick” Mulvey, a 55-year-old family man who lived in the Darling Estate, just off the Navan Road in Dublin.

A full garda investigation was launched after his body was discovered by his shocked partner at their home early yesterday.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

A neighbour said: “I was just talking to Mick on Tuesday night.

“I met him as I was walking the dog. He was in good form. I’m completely shocked. He was a lovely quiet fella. It is shocking.”

A post mortem was due to be carried out by the Assistant State Pathologist last night, which will determine the course of the garda investigation.

The sudden death of Mr Mulvey death came just 13 days after he was treated for injuries sustained in a violent incident as he walked towards his home.

He was assaulted as he was walking along the busy Navan Road at around 5.30pm on November 14.

Gardai are appealing for witnesses to the assault which happened during the evening rush hour, when traffic is usually moving slowly.

After the incident, Mr Mulvey was admitted to St James’ Hospital but had been discharged after treatment for his injuries.
