Man found dead in Govanhill as residents evacuated from flats over possible 'noxious substance'

A man has been found dead at a Govanhill address this morning.

The body of the man was discovered at the Govanhill Street address at around 9am today (Wednesday, February 12).

Police Scotland have confirmed that his death is being treated as unexplained and a post mortem will be carried out to establish the cause of death.

Police have evacuated a number of flats due to the possibility of noxious substances being present.

Emergency services remain in attendance at the scene.

A police spokesperson said: "Around 9am on Wednesday 12 February, 2020, the body of a man was discovered at an address on Govanhill Street, Glasgow.

"A post mortem examination will be carried out to establish the exact cause of death which police are currently treating as unexplained.

"Police and other emergency services remain in attendance and a number of flats have been evacuated as a precaution due to the possible presence of a noxious substance."
