Man found dead in Glasgow city centre as cops lock down busy lane

A man has been found dead in Glasgow city centre with police locking down the scene.

Emergency services were called to a premises at Argyll Arcade off Argyle Street around 5.40am on Saturday June 11.

A 51-year-old man was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

Police have closed off Sloans Lane in the city's busy shopping area as they carry out a probe into the death.

The lane connects Buchanan street with Argyle Street.

The death is thought not to be suspicious but enquiries are ongoing into the circumstances.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 5.40am on Saturday, 11 June, police were called to premises at the Argyll Arcade.

"Police and Ambulance attended and a 51-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.

"Police enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding the death, however there are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances.

"A report will be forwarded to the Procurator Fiscal.”
